The newly released Winning the Race – America’s AI Action Plan aims to secure U.S. global leadership in artificial intelligence through three pillars:
- Pillar 1 : Accelerate AI Innovation – removing regulatory barriers and promoting open-source models
- Pillar 2: Build American AI Infrastructure – building data centers, semiconductors, and energy systems
- Pillar 3: Lead in International AI Diplomacy – exporting American AI technology to allies, countering adversarial influence, and strengthening export controls to safeguard national security
Within Pillar 1 , the following policy action is prescribed to help ensure that frontier AI protects free speech and American Values:
- Led by the Department of Commerce (DOC) through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), revise the NIST AI Risk Management Framework to eliminate references to misinformation, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and climate change.
I’ve already familiarized myself with the Framework (you can too with this NIST AI RMF Dashboard). So, how woke is the NIST AI RMF? It may not be evident for anyone who didn’t critically read the entire publication. I created this woke ideology dashboard to expedite your review.
Spoiler: quantitative signs point to woke ideology.
Data Summary:
- 9 recurring woke ideology terms
- 52 woke ideology statements
